Liam Carlton, founder of The Enquiry Works and Pit Pro Ltd.
From advertiser to The Enquiry Works
Before starting The Enquiry Works, I spent years building and marketing my own subscription business, Pit Pro. I started using Meta Ads almost immediately; a brief experiment with outsourced Google PPC produced a customer acquisition cost of more than £50.
The real turning point came when better tracking allowed me to measure Meta CAC properly. I learned to test creative, improve targeting and compare acquisition cost with what a customer was actually worth.
For a sustained period, Meta CAC settled at around £12 per customer, and Meta became Pit Pro’s main and sustained paid acquisition channel. Pit Pro has now generated more than 24,000 sales.
That’s where much of the thinking behind The Enquiry Works comes from: measure what matters, understand the economics and don’t assume a campaign will fix itself when performance starts to slip.
Experience that shapes the approach
Small-business ownership
Founder and operator of Pit Pro Ltd, with direct experience of building and running a subscription ecommerce business, acquiring customers and managing marketing budgets where every pound had to work hard.
Communications and customer experience
More than a decade of experience across communications, customer experience and process-led organisations, including supporting internal communications for approximately 14,000 colleagues at Direct Line Group.
Practical commercial accountability
Experience working with customer journeys, enquiries, campaign messaging, retention and business processes, with a focus on what happens after someone clicks or submits a form.
What working together should feel like
The service is deliberately founder-led. Clients deal directly with Liam throughout the assessment, setup and ongoing management of their campaign.
Straightforward
Clear explanations, honest feedback and no unnecessary marketing jargon.
Commercial
Campaign decisions are considered against customer value, lead quality and realistic business outcomes.
Evidence-led
Changes are made for a clear reason, not simply to create the appearance of activity.
Directly accountable
There are no layers of account management. The person assessing the business is also the person building and managing the campaign.
If the evidence suggests that Meta advertising is unsuitable, that the offer needs further work or that continued spending cannot be justified, that will be explained clearly.
